EC takes action against poll observers
Kathmandu, July 10
The Election Commission has scrapped the permission it gave to the Election Observation Forum Nepal as its representatives had violated the election observation code.
After EOFN representatives — Min Bahadur Thapa, Buddhi Bahadur Rokaya and Rammani Poudel — violated the code by becoming vote count representatives
of some particular political party, they and the EOFN have been banned from observing elections forever.
The identity cards the EC provided them would be scrapped immediately, said EC Spokesperson Surya Prasad Sharma.
Thapa, Rokaya and Poudel were involved in political activity in Banganga Municipality of Kapilvastu district in the second phase of local level elections.
Mukti Subedi is Chairman of EOFN, while Matrika Prasad Bhattarai is the vice chairman and Niranjan Thapa is the general secretary. EOFN had received 201 identity cards for election observation.
