More than a cross-section of Nepal's road sector professionals completed a four-day Nepal Engineering Council (NEC)-accredited training programme on highway geometric design and digital modelling, aimed at strengthening technical capacity in modern road planning and project delivery.
KATHMANDU, JULY 7
The Society of Consulting Architectural and Engineering Firms (SCAEF) Nepal has concluded a four-day Nepal Engineering Council (NEC)-accredited Continuing Professional Development (CPD) training programme on "Highway Geometric Design and Digital Modeling", bringing together engineers and professionals from across the country's road sector.
Organised in collaboration with the Construction Business Development Implementation Committee (CBDIC) and the Federation of Contractors' Associations of Nepal (FCAN), the training was held in Kathmandu from July 1 to 4. It targeted key stakeholders in road infrastructure projects, including clients, consultants and contractors.
According to SCAEF Nepal, the programme focused on enhancing participants' skills in highway planning, geometric design, digital modelling and project implementation through software-based design tools such as SW Roads V2 and Civil 3D.
The training covered topographical survey data processing, pavement and drainage design, intersection and cross-section design, road safety, and methods to minimise design errors using digital workflows. Practical case studies from Nepal were also incorporated to strengthen participants' application of modern engineering practices.
SCAEF Nepal said NEC-accredited CPD programmes enable engineers to earn professional development hours required for licence renewal while helping them remain updated with national and international engineering standards.
The programme concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony led by SCAEF Nepal President Er. Thakur P. Sharma. Lead trainer Er. Gopal Mitra from India and software developer Er. Nhuja Bajracharya also shared professional insights during the training.
The participants included representatives from government agencies, consulting firms, construction companies and engineers working on ongoing road infrastructure projects across the country.
