KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the ethnic diversity was the symbol of national unity of Nepal, adding that it should be utilised for gaining economic prosperity now.

While inaugurating the first national convention of the Loktantrik Aadivasi Janajati Mahasangh here today, Chairman Oli said that the future journey for the nation should be made of economic prosperity and unity, leaving the filthy politics in the name of caste, geography and religion.

He said that prosperity could be achieved by utilising the rights granted by the Constitution.

Leader Oli cited examples of deteriorating conditions of several countries after practising ethnic politics.

He further added that such politics would be a challenge to national integration.

As many as 1,500 delegates are attending the convention.
