The final rites of Constituent Assembly Chairperson and CPN (UML) Vice-Chairperson, Subas Chandra Nembang, were performed at Pashupati Aryaghat today with state honours.
Nembang's sons-Mingso Suhang Nembang lit their father's funeral pyre. On the occasion, a contingent of the Nepali Army had presented a guard of honour.
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal paid tribute to Nembang by draping national flag over his body while and CPN (UML) Chairperson, KP Sharma Oli, draped party flag over Nembang's body.
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Devraj Ghimire, Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister, Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Deputy-Speaker Indira Rana, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, Rastriya Prajatantra Party Chair Rajendra Lingden, Chairperson of Rastriya Janamorcha, Chitra Bahadur KC, among other leaders had reached Pashupati Aryaghat to pay their tribute to late Nembang.
A funeral procession taken out from Nembang's private house in Baluwatar had reached Pashupati Aryaghat passing through Teaching Hospital, Narayan Gopal Chowk, Dhumbarahi and Gaushala.
Top leaders, cadres, well-wishers and general people had joined the funeral procession. Nembang died on Tuesday morning due to heart attack. He was 71.
