KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 12

The government has decided to hold the funeral of CPN UML leader Subash Chandra Nembang, who passed away this morning, with state honors. An emergency meeting of the cabinet held today at Singh Durbar made the decision to perform his final rites with national honors.

Moreover, the cabinet also decided to declare a public holiday on the day of his final rites, which is yet to be scheduled. It has been reported that the final rites will be performed when Nembang's sons, who are abroad, return.

Nembang passed away while undergoing treatment at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) at 1:30 am today.

Nembang, who was born on 28 Falgun 2009 BS, had developed his image as an accommodative leader in Nepali politics. Nembang was the Constituent Assembly Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson of the CPN-UML, and former Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR).
