KATHMANDU: Police said they seized 115 packets of firecrackers and explosives from various vehicles during regular checking at Jadubuti in KMC-35 of Kathmandu on Saturday.

The drivers of the vehicles from which the contraband were held are also detained, police added.

While Tihar, the festival of colours and lights, is just around the corner, police have intensified a crackdown on illegal trade of firecrackers in Kathmandu Valley of late.
