KATHMANDU, JULY 2
Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari has renounced all state-provided benefits, with the exception of personal security, in her capacity as the former Head of State.
Her decision took effect from Wednesday. Until now, the government had been providing her with various facilities, including communication services and transportation. Bhandari's secretariat formally communicated the decision through a letter addressed to the Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Following the completion of her presidential tenure, she had been receiving state facilities as per the provisions for former Heads of State.
It is worth noting that a few days ago, during a programme held in memory of her late husband, Madan Bhandari, in the federal capital, Bhandari publicly announced her reentry into politics by renewing her membership in the CPN-UML.
