Free supply Nepal's right, says UML leader Khanal

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML senior leader Jhala Nath Khanal said that the transit and free supply of consumables was Nepal's right and India should facilitate it without any hindrance.

It cannot be believed that the neighbouring country would impose any embargo on Nepal, he said, all Nepalis would unitedly face the challenge if such a situation arrived.

The former prime minister, however, was of the opinion the agitating parties could not stop carrier trucks and fuel tankers on the Indian side and that the current embargo like situation arrived due to weaknesses on the part of India.

Referring to the ongoing protests staged by the agitating Madhesi parties in the no man's land along the Nepal-India border, Khanal said that such activities should not be allowed as per the international laws.

Some intend to fulfil their interests at the cost of relationship between Nepal and India, according to him.

He urged the Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Ranjit Rae, to play an instrumental role in "ending the blockade and creating an environment for free supply" from India to Nepal.

Khanal claimed that CPN-UML would lead a new consensus government and it would be formed within a week of the start of House session, by October 9.
