The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Kathmandu organized the FRIENDS OF KOREA 2025 event on Saturday, bringing together over 100 Nepali alumni of South Korean universities for a special reception aimed at deepening the longstanding friendship between the two nations.

Speaking on the occasion Ambassador Park highlighted the major South Korea's priorities in the development of Nepal and the importance of reunion of journey of South Korean University alumni. He also talked on the achievements, and potential shape for the future of Korea - Nepal relations.

Ambassador Park mentioned that the opportunity to express on success and appreciation for Korea's scholar's continued interest in fostering two countries bilateral ties.

This year, Nepal and South Korea mark the 51st anniversary of diplomatic ties between two countries. Over the decades, two countries friendship has grown deeper, grounded in mutual respect and shared aspirations for peace, prosperity, and development, according to the press release issued by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Kathmandu.

The event showcased Korea's contributions through economic cooperation, particularly via Korean companies investing in infrastructure, vocational training, and clean energy in Nepal. Ambassador Park also praised the Employment Permit System (EPS) for creating opportunities for Nepali youth and facilitating technology transfer. In development cooperation, Korea, through KOICA, has supported projects in agriculture, healthcare, education, and e-governance, enhancing Nepal's capacity to meet sustainable development goals.

Attended by high-level officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Planning Commission, Council of Ministers, and academic institutions including Far Western University, the event served as a platform for fostering policy dialogue, innovation partnerships, and renewed commitment to shared prosperity.
