Fuel crisis shuts many schools in Bhaktapur

BHAKTAPUR: Many schools in Bhaktapur district have closed due to acute shortage of petroleum products.

Some of the schools remained closed for the past few days while the remaining would be soon closing after completing the ongoing exams.

The Private and Boarding Schools Organisation, Nepal (PABSON Bhaktapur) decided to close the schools after the schools did not get petroleum products despite their request with the District Administration Office.

Central Vice-Chairperson of PABSON, Dipika Thapa, said that they were compelled to close the schools after failing to ply their buses to pick up and drop students for lack of petroleum products.

Bhaktapur Chairman of PABSON, Raj Kumar Maharjan, said that the teaching learning activities, which were disrupted for over a month due to the earthquake, was to be disrupted again for lack of petroleum products.

He said, "This year's academic session will not move ahead as per the calendar."
