Gorkha school gets computers, solar panels
Kathmandu, February 16:
The foreigners from Australia and Britain in coordination with the Kathmandu-based NGO Renewable Energy for Clean Environment Development (RECED) Nepal today donated solar panels, computers and a printer to a school located at a remote part of Gorkha district.
According to Muktinath Dhakal, principal of the Jageswor Secondary School, Borlang, VDC-7 of Gorkha, Prof Dr Alistar Sproul and his eight students from University of New South Wales (UNSW) today fixed four solar panels of 85 watts each and handed over two computer sets along with 10 tube lights for seven rooms to the school administration amidst a function.
Meanwhile, one Lisa Dobinson from the United Kingdom provided two solar panels of 40 watts each and a colour printer to the Jageswor Secondary School.
Informing about the programme to this daily, Dhakal, in a telephone conversation, said that Prof Sproul and president of RECED Nepal, Suprabhat Basnet, have promised to continue support to the school. Some 501 students of the school would benefit from the computers.
The school is some 32 km away from the district Headquarters.
