Kathmandu, July 2:

If democracy means indulging in bloodshed and denying people from exercising their right to live freely, then it is no democracy at all, Labour and Transport Management Minister, Ram Narayan Singh, said today. He said the King and the government are striving to establish peace in the country and thus they need people’s support. Without people’s support it is very difficult to establish lasting peace. Singh was addressing a poetry symposium and interaction programme organised by the King’s 59th Birthday Celebration National Committee today. “I urge the Maoists to come to the right track,” said Singh. He further said monarchy and democracy are two sides of a coin and one cannot do without the other. Expressing concern over human rights violation by the Maoists, he said that a large number of people are being displaced, killed and raped.
