KATHMANDU, JANUARY 1
Minister for Health and Population, Pradeep Paudel, emphasized the need for heightened vigilance to address the risk of Mpox in Nepal during discussions with concerned authorities.
On Wednesday, he conducted an on-site inspection at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) and gathered information from officials about measures in place to prevent Mpox transmission at the primary point of air entry.
The Ministry has set up health desks for incoming passengers to curb the potential spread of Mpox.
Minister Paudel assured the Ministry's full commitment to safeguarding citizens, including airline staff, civil aviation officials, immigration personnel, and airport security. "We are prepared to provide any necessary support," he stated. "If there are any issues, please inform us promptly."
Currently, two Nepali citizens who returned from Saudi Arabia have been diagnosed with Mpox. One has recovered and returned home, while the other is receiving treatment at the Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital.
The patient is reported to be in stable condition and out of life-threatening danger.
