KATHMANDU: The hearing on writ petition filed against the dissolution of House of Representatives (HoR) is underway at the Supreme Court.

The case is presently being heard by the constitutional bench led by Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana and comprising Justices Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha, Tej Bahadur KC, Anil Kumar Sinha, and Sapana Pradhan Malla.

Chief Justice Rana today shortened the time-limit set for the lawyers' argument to 15 minutes from the earlier 30 minutes. The constitutional bench had decided to shorten the time taken by lawyers to 30 minutes on June 20, to expedite the hearing and not cause a delay in the case.

The constitutional bench had earlier asked the Office of the Attorney General to produce the Nepal Gazette to see if the presidential order on the dissolution of the House of Representatives was published in it.

Responding to this order, the Office of the Attorney General, on January 22, submitted the copy of Nepal Gazette that printed the notification about HoR dissolution. However, a petition was later filed at the apex court to verify authenticity of the notice.
