Help in the offing for war-torn kids

Kathmandu, March 17:

The Central Child Welfare Committee (CCWC), a government body, will launch development and protection programmes for children affected in 30 districts by the armed conflict. The move will be supported by Save the Children - UK and Norway.

Speaking at an interaction programme today, Dipak Sapkota, CCWC executive director assured that the programme would directly benefit the conflict-hit children in sectors like education, health and their rehabilitation. The interaction was organised by CCWC and Media Forum for Children.

Sapkota added that an agreement to the effect has been formalised and that the programme will be implemented soon.

The districts where are most affected are Achham, Doti, Bajura, Bajhang, Banke, Bardiya, Surkhet, Dang, Dailekh, Jajarkot, Rukum, Rolpa, Salyan, Kalikot, Jumla, Humla, Dolpa, Palpa, Lamjung, Tanahu, Syangja, Parbat, Myagdi, Baglung, Nawalparasi, Gorkha, Sindhuli, Dolkha, Kabhre and Sindhupalchok.
