Three unidentified persons beat lecturer Dharma Raj Bista to death last evening at Bojepokhari, Emadol-2, Lalitpur, police said.
According to the police, the group hit Bista on his head with an iron rod when he was on his way back to home. “When Bista fell down on the ground, the assailants left him and fled the scene,” the police said.
By-passers and locals took the lecturer to Patan Hospital that referred him to the Bir Hospital. He died when he was being operated upon, the police added. Thirty-five-year-old Bista was teaching in Nepal Commerce Campus, Everest College and Pioneer College. Bista is survived by his wife and three-year-old daughter. The police has taken five suspects into custody.
Students of the Nepal Commerce Campus staged a chakka jam this afternoon to protest against the murder of their teacher. Bista was teaching Organisational Behaviour and Human Resources Management in the campus for two years. The students demanded that the culrpits be punished and the victim’s family be compensated.
