Minister Sharma vows to boost cops’ morale

Kathmandu, July 19

Minister for Home Affairs Janardan Sharma today said he would make utmost efforts to bring about reforms in home administration.

Speaking at a programme organised in Lalitpur, he said, “I can’t do magic, but will do my best to bring about reforms in home administration. Nothing can disengage me from my commitment.”

“I am working to mobilise police by solving all problems facing the security body. Doing this will boost the morale of police personnel. Nepal Police acts as the government’s first responder and it is also the first helper of the people,” he added.

Minister Sharma urged all to not expect much from him. “I will only make efforts to do justice to all. I have focused my attention on how to boost the morale of low-ranking cops and how to engage them in the service of people,” he informed.

On a different note, Minister Sharma said the government was making preparations for holding the third phase of local level elections, and provincial and federal polls.

“It is highly important to institutionalise the new system of governance established by the constitution by holding the remaining elections at the earliest,” he stressed.
