KATHMANDU: Five people were arrested on charge of distilling and distributing hooch from Nakkhu Corridor, on the outskirts of Lalitpur, on Wednesday.

Police said a team deployed from the Metropolitan Police Range, Lalitpur, seized and destroyed 5,527 litres of home-made liquor.

Raw materials and several paraphernalia used to produce and store hooch were also confiscated during the operation.

Also, police seized 80 litres of branded alcohol from their possession and sent it to the Harihar Bhawan-based Internal Revenue Department for further investigation and action.
