House discusses bills related to judiciary

KATHMANDU: The Parliament meeting on Wednesday held discussions on two bills related to the judiciary.

Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Agni Prasad Kharel had presented separate proposals to hold discussions on the Supreme Court Act First Amendment Bill and the Judicial Service Commission Bill.

Taking part in the discussion, lawmakers Dilli Prasad Kafle and Ram Narayan Bidari had criticised the bills claiming they could not reflect recent political changes.

Bidari demanded that supremacy of the Parliament should be established above the supremacy of the Constitution and the court as the Parliament could make, amend and scrap laws.

In the second meeting held today, the House endorsed Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel's proposal to begin discussions on the Appropriation Bill.

The House is scheduled to begin discussions on the Bill on coming Monday.

After the second meeting, the House has been adjourned for 11 am on Sunday.
