KATHMANDU, JUNE 26
The House of Representatives (HoR) meeting scheduled for Friday has been postponed for the second time this week, delaying discussion and endorsement of several key government bills, including the Economic Bill, 2083.
In a notice issued on Friday, Federal Parliament Secretary General Padma Prasad Pandey announced that Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal had rescheduled the meeting for 1:00 pm on June 27 (Saturday), in accordance with House regulations.
Although the Parliament Secretariat did not specify the reason for the postponement, sources indicate it is linked to the ongoing first general convention of the ruling Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) in Bharatpur, Chitwan. The House meeting, originally scheduled for Thursday, was first deferred to Friday, also reportedly due to the convention's extension.
Friday's agenda had included the tabling of five bills and endorsement of the annual report of the Office of the Auditor General. Among the key legislative items:
- Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Sobita Gautam was to table the 39th Annual Report of the Office of the Auditor General (on behalf of Prime Minister Balendra Shah) along with the Public Procurement (Second Amendment) Bill, 2083.
- Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle was due to present the Prevention of Money Laundering (Third Amendment) Bill, discuss amendments to the Economic Bill, 2083, and table the National Debt Recovery Bill.
- Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives, Federal Affairs and General Administration Prativa Rawal was scheduled to present the Cooperative (First Amendment) Bill.
- Minister for Health and Food Safety Nisha Mehta was to table the Bill to Amend Certain Nepal Acts Related to Health Sciences Academies.
