‘Human resource development must to meet SDGs’

Kathmandu, July 9

Minister for Education Girirajmani Pokharel today said developing competent and educated human resources was a must if the country were to attain Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.

Responding to lawmakers’ queries on issues related to the education ministry at the Legislature-Parliament today, Minister Pokharel further said that the government was committed to developing an education system that could help Nepal graduate from the status of Least Developed Country.

“The government has prepared education policy, plan and strategy and is also working to implement them, he added. He also told the lawmakers that the government was doing its best to make sure that school textbooks reached all parts of the country on time. Pokharel also underscored the need to increase the number of teachers in secondary level schools. He informed that there was a need for 23,992 teachers to address the current gap in the education sector. The minister also pledged to take into consideration the suggestions offered by parliamentarians.
