KATHMANDU, AUGUST 3
Inspector General of Nepal Police Dhiraj Pratap Singh has directed subordinate bodies to identify areas that are vulnerable to disasters and remain on standby with preparedness and response plans.
Inaugurating a police building constructed on the premises of Kathmandu Valley Special Security Police Battalion, Tripureshwor, today, the Nepal Police chief asked the bodies concerned to assess and ascertain areas that are prone to water-induced disasters such as inundation, floods and landslides and remain on standby to deal with untoward incidents.
"The Nepal Police has its role on the frontline in crime investigation, management of peace and security and disaster responsiveness," he said. "In some cases, we have the experience of being criticised for our failure to hold on to our patience which led to loss of human lives. That's why, it is necessary for us to control our emotions as per the context and deal with the situation rationally and consciously," he asserted.
Similarly, Kathmandu CDO Govinda Prasad Rijal spoke of the need to enhance capacity building of Nepal Police force as per the changing time and situation. He expressed hope that the battalion would perform its role in combating crime in Kathmandu valley.
