Ignore all political pressures in your job, PM tells secretaries

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli directed secretaries and special class officials of the government 'to completely ignore political pressures' in conducting their jobs.

After a week of assuming his office, Oli invited the Chief Secretary, secretaries of all ministries and special class officers at his office and directed them not to heed any political pressure in order to ensure effective and quality services.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister said the government has aimed to maintain a zero tolerance to corruption in order to maintain good governance in the nation.

According to spokesperson at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the secretaries have been told to prepare a plan of action in line with his directives and submit them through respective ministers.

The Prime Minister also urged the officials to begin working on formulating new laws and reviewing old laws in order to implement the newly promulgated Constitution.

He also directed them to help daily life of people return to normalcy by ensuring smooth supply of daily essentials including petroleum products, food items and medicines, notwithstanding obstructions at various border points.

The Prime Minister shared that other priorities of his government include post-earthquake reconstruction drive, development of physical infrastructures, development of investment-friendly environment, modernisation and commercialisation of agriculture, control to organised crimes and hooliganism and development of professional and technical education, among others.
