LALITPUR: The progress assessment of annual budget of the Lalitpur District Development Committee (DDC) was held on Tuesday. More than 90 per cent of the programmes were found to be successful in the last fiscal year, a statement issued by the DDC Office, said. — HNS
Manhandling of LDO
KATHMANDU: Nepal Executive Officers' Forum, Nepal 2008 on Tuesday strongly condemned the manhandling of Ram Dayal Yadav, local development officer of Parsa Development Committee on Sunday. "It was a deplorable act. We condemn the attack on the government official, who has been working in the absence of elected representatives in the local body," said a statement issued by the MEOFN. "The culprit be punished stringently to ensure that such incidents do not recur and that a conducive environment be created for the government officials to work without fear in the district," it said. — HNS
Two commit suicide
KATHMANDU: Deepak Chhetri, 26, a resident of Kapan hanged himself to death at his house on Monday night. Meanwhile, Nita Silwal, 20, a resident of Solang VDC in Sindhupalchowk, killed herself by hanging at a newly constructed house in Kumbheshwor, Lalitpur. Police said they were investigating the cases. — HNS
LRO staffer caught red-handed
KATHMANDU: Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority on Tuesday caught a staffer of Land Revenue Office, Dillibazar while taking bribe from a client. The anti-graft body arrested non-gazetted first class staffer Kedar Bahadur Karki and his assistant Hom Nath Banjara while taking Rs 20,000 for registering a piece of land. They were detained by the CIAA police division, said a highly placed source. He added that the CIAA would produce them before the Special Court tomorrow for a judicial remand. — HNS
