Abductor nabbed
Kathmandu: Ram Kumar Shrestha, a resident of Tauthali in Sindhupalchowk, involved in countless abduction cases led by Bhimsen Pundit, has been finally nabbed by the police. According to the police, he was involved in the abduction of Rajendra Sharma in February 2007, Ganesh Bihari in March 2007, shot Sachit Gupta in an attempt to abduct him on October 3, 2007, abducted Binod Sharma Neupane on December 17, 2007 and abducted Omkar Bhattachan on January 7, 2008. — HNS
Extortionist held
Kathmandu: Gokul Kumar Khatri, a resident of Siddha Pokhari-9 of Sankhuwasabha, was arrested for extorting people. Police arrested him from Kamaladi while returning with a cheque of Rs 10,000 from Western Union Money Transfer in Heritage Plaza. According to the police, he used to collect donations in the name of high-profile people for different purposes. He used to demand donations for an NGO called ‘Women Empowerment for Development and Equity’. The police have seized letter pads, a cheque of Rs 10,000 as a donation from the Western Union Money Transfer and a mobile set. — HNS
Two arrested
Kathmandu: The police have arrested Sagun Shrestha, 24, of Madhyapur Thimi and Suren Lama, 19, of Baramche of Sindhupalchowk for abducting Kedar Bahadur Thapa, 25, of Koteshwor, on November 20 from his house. Thapa was kept in Madhyapur Thimi while his family was asked to pay a ransom of Rs 2.5 million. The police have also seized a car and two mobile sets from the accused. — HNS
