YCL excesses flayed

KATHMANDU: The Newa Rajak Samaj on Sunday condemned the YCL’s alleged act of manhandling Sangina Rajak in Balaju. Rajak is learnt to be a cadre of the Democratic National Youth Federation. Saying that the YCL is still involved in abduction, killing and manhandling, the Samaj urged human rights activists to protest such acts. — HNS

French aid for hospice

KATHMANDU: French ambassador to Nepal Gilles Henry Garault on Sunday handed over Rs 21 million to Shechen Hospital and Hospice (SHH) in Kathmandu to improve the services there. The hospital, which was established in October 2000, treats the poor for free. Dominique G Marchal, founding manager of SHH, said the health sector in Nepal is in doldrums because of lack of education and awareness. — HNS

Students’ meet stalled

KATHMANDU: Indigenous students from the Tri-Chandra College, following a dispute between student leaders, intervened and disrupted the third national convention of Nepal Indigenous Nationalities Students’ Federation (NINSF) on Friday. Earlier, founder president of NINSF and CA member Ram Bahadur Thapa Magar was selected as chairman of the presidential board. — HNS
