New front formed
Kathmandu: Four little known pro-monarchist parties and the Rastriya Janashakti Party (RJP) on Friday formed a new front, Samyukta Samabesi Morcha. The Front includes the RJP, Rastriya Janamukti Party, Rastriya Jana Ekata Party, Nepal Rastriya Janabhawana Party and Dalit Janajati Party. “This Front will emerge as an alternative democratic force to the SPA,” RJP chairman Surya Bahadur Thapa said. Thapa will chair all the meetings of the Front. — HNS
Journos assaulted
BHAKTAPUR: The Bhaktapur FNJ chapter on Friday flayed the attack on the reporter and cameraperson of Sagarmatha TV. In a release, the chapter said an uncontrolled mob beat up reporter Gokul Shrestha and cameraperson Amrit Bhatta of the STV on Friday at Kamalbinayak.— HNS
Murderer re-arrested
KATHMANDU: The Metropolitan Police Circle, Boudha, on Friday held Rajkumar Giri of Dhading from Gokarna who broke central jail and fled in 2003. DSP Yog Bahadur Pal said Giri was serving sentence for murder when he broke the jail. — HNS
EAWA’s demands
KATHMANDU: The Gurkha Army Ex-Servicemen’s Association, in a release, on Friday expressed its solidarity with the agitation launched by the ex-Army Welfare Association (EAWA) and demanded that the government take diplomatic initiative to fulfil the demands of the EAWA. — HNS
