AP scribe honoured

KATHMANDU: Raj Kumar Dikpal, reporter of the Annapurna Post, was felicitated on Wednesday for his contribution in combating HIV/AIDS through reporting on the pandemic. At a function, National Association of People Living with HIV/AIDS in Nepal also felicitated journalists Sangita Rijal, Nimesh Regmi, Kiran Pokharel, Manita Chamling, Manish Gautam, and Dipak Acharya, among others. Also, health workers Dr Dipesh Gurubacharya, Dr Lekh Jung, Dr Shital Adhikari, Dr Prakash Thapa, and Dr Mukunda P Acharya, among others, were honoured. — HNS

Sitaula urged to quit

KATHMANDU: The Hindu Volunteers’ Association on Wednesday condemned the Young Communist League for obstructing the main gate and the regular chores inside Janaki temple and asked Home Minster Krishna Prasad Sitaula to immediately resign from his position, citing his inability to maintain security in the country. “If such a trend continues, Hindus will be forced to take to the streets,” the Association said. — HNS

NC cadre dead

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress on Wednesday expressed deep sorrow over the demise of its active cadre Pushpalal Basnet of Bijauri VDC of Dang on Tuesday night. Issuing a press release, the NC said that Basnet’s contribution for democracy will always be remembered and expressed condolence for the bereaved family. Basnet died at 64. — RSS

Wedding exhibition

KATHMANDU: Direction Nepal on Wednesday said it will organise a Wedding and Gift Expo from January 17 to 21, 2008. A press release issued by the company stated that the expo would feature over 50 stalls with a wide range of wedding-related items, gifts, and novelties under one roof. The expo will take place at the Direction Exhibition and Convention Centre of United World Trade Centre, Tripureshwor. — HNS
