Rs 4.37 lakh stolen

Kathmandu: An unidentified person this afternoon made away with Rs 4.37 lakh from Barun Sigdel of Nuwakot, on the premises of Nabil Bank, Kantipath. Sigdel was about to start his motorcycle after withdrawing the cash from the bank when an unidentified person told him that there were big black spots on his pant. “When Sigdel got off the motorcycle to wipe off the spots, the cheat fled with the bag full of cash,” a police official at the Durbarmarg Police office, said. The police said Sigdel had put the bag of cash on the leg guard of his motorcycle. Sigdel is a student of Gramin Adarsha Multiple Campus at Nepaltar, Kathmandu. His father Madhav Sigdel runs a dairy cooperative in Nuwakot and Sigdel had drawn the cash for him. — HNS

Blood donation

KATHMANDU: The HRIDAYA Group and the Nepal-Britain Society on Monday jointly organised a blood donation camp with the slogan — Blood for Life. The camp aimed at improving the blood stock availability in the blood transfusion centres in the Kathmandu valley. There has been scarcity of blood in the valley after the Jana Andolan II and problems of blood shortage arise during road mishaps and other major accidents, a press statement issued by the group said. HRIDAYA Group is an NGO established to help underprivileged and needy children of Nepal, the statement added. — HNS
