Poet’s birth centenary

Kathmandu: The birth centenary of Nepal Bhasha poet Chhtadhar Hridaya was held today. It was announced today that his birth place at Naradevi in Kathmandu would

be turned into a museum for which locals have agreed to donate generously. Panchabir Singh Tuladhar donated Rs 111,000 and Purna Kaji Tamrakar Rs 53,000 today for establishment of the museum. Hridaya, who died in 1982, has authored around 30 books on Nepal Bhasha, of which three have been translated in English. He was jailed in 1940 and detained for six years for writing in his mother tongue, Newari.
