KATHMANDU: The Alfabeta Institute for Medical and Engineering Studies (AIMS), Nepal is organising its first AIMS Career Expo on Friday and Saturday on the White House College premises. Talk programme held

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Forum of Environment Journalists, Association of Nepalese Graduates

of People’s Friendship University of Russia, and Russian Centre of Science and Culture on Thursday organised a programme on ‘Green Cities: Plan for the Planet’ — the UN theme for the World Environment Day of 2005, which is celebrated on June 5. Former TU VC Kamal Krishna Joshi, stressed the need of first improving the environment, then working for its conservation. Director at Nepal Water Conservation Foundation, Ajay Dixit, said rapid urbanisation in South Asia had contributed to the region’s degradation of environment and pollution, inequity and water problem. — HNS

Magar leader dead

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Magar Students’ Association has expressed grief over the demise of former president of Nepal Magar Association, Kabiraj Magar early on Thursday. “We condole the death of an able leader who contributed his life to the Magar community,” it said in a condolence message. The flag at its central office will be kept at half mast for three days as a sign of respect for Magar. — HNS
