School marks 25th anniv:

KATHMANDU: Baba Boarding High School on Monday organised an inter-school extempore speech competition to mark its 25th anniversary. Of the 11 participating schools, Pushpa Sadan Boarding High School won first prize. On the anniversary eve, Baba Boarding School had also organised a folk dance competition. Pushpa Sadan High School stood first, Gyan Niketan School stood second and AVM School stood third in the dance competition while Bhanubhakta Memorial School won consolation prize. Altogether 12 schools took part in the dance contest. — HNS

Seminar on Buddhism:

KATHMANDU: The proposed Siddhartha University organised a seminar on ‘Akushal Chitta and Setasik’, different ideologies of Buddhism, on Saturday, according to a press release issued here. Shyam Lal Chitrakar presented a research paper. Different Buddhist scholars including Ramesh Ratna Tamrakar, Dr Sanu Bhai Dangol, Hiranya Raj Bajracharya, Asha Ratna Shakya, Bidhya Kumari Bajracharya and others offered their comments on the topic. This was the 41st seminar of the university. — HNS

King issues ordinances:

KATHMANDU: King Gyanendra has, in accordance with the Constitution of the Kingdom of Nepal-1990, promulgated the Poverty Alleviation Fund Ordinance — 2005 and the ordinance related to Private Investment in the Construction and Operation of Basic Infrastructures — 2005, the office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers stated on Monday. —RSS

Need for licences urged:

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Information and Communications has drawn the attention of one and all to the need for the general public to acquire licences for operating all radio equipment and cordless telephones. Accordingly, licence has to be acquired for sale and distribution of radio equipment and as cordless telephone (with a capacity of less than 30 metres distance, except the one without extension antennae) is included in the radio equipment, the sale of this type of radio equipment is prohibited in accordance with the Radio Communications (Licence) Regulations — 2049. —RSS
