KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 12

The Government of India on Thursday handed over the third tranche of election-related assistance to Nepal to support preparations for the upcoming elections.

Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava, ceremonially handed over the assistance to Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal at a function held at the Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday in Kathmandu.

The third tranche comprises more than 270 vehicles and other supplies, including 50 trucks for the Nepali Army, as requested by the Government of Nepal for election-related logistics and security arrangements.

The trucks designated for the Nepali Army were received by Chief of Army Staff General Ashok Raj Sigdel from the Indian Ambassador.

Speaking at the event, Home Minister Aryal thanked the Government of India for the timely and significant support. He appreciated the comprehensive and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries, describing it as rooted in mutual trust, friendship and shared democratic values.

The first and second tranches of election assistance, consisting of over 310 vehicles and related supplies, were handed over on January 20 and January 29, 2026, respectively. Additional consignments are expected to be delivered in batches in the coming days, the Indian Embassy said.

The Indian Embassy stated that the continued support underscores the multi-sectoral development partnership between Nepal and India and reflects the longstanding ties and goodwill between the two countries.
