India should help Nepal lift border obstruction, says Deuba
KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) senior leader and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that India should lift the ongoing obstruction on the border soon.
He pointed out the need to lift the ‘unannounced blockade’ to ease supply of essentials and petroleum products to Nepal.
He was speaking at a tea reception organised by the NC-affiliated Nepal Tarun Dal (NTD) in the Capital today, to welcome the newly promulgated constitution and extend greetings on the occasion of near-coming festivals including Dashain, Tihar and Chhath and Nepal Sambat New Year.
Saying that efforts are on to form a consensus government before October 8 as per the call by the President and the constitution, NC leader Deuba said that a majority government would be formed in case of a failure to forge agreement for a consensus government within that period.
When asked if an agreement was reached among major political parties, during the signing of the 16-point agreement, for sharing key positions of President, Prime Minister and Speaker, Deuba said that he was unaware of it.
NC General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula, Joint General Secretary Purna Bahadur Khadka and other NC leaders had attended the programme.
