KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 22

Newly appointed Minister for Industry, Commerce, and Supplies Anil Kumar Sinha assumed office today at the ministry in Singha Durbar.

Upon taking charge, his first decision focused on the reconstruction of buildings damaged during the Gen-Z movements, with an emphasis on maximizing the use of domestic materials.

On the occasion, Minister Sinha reiterated the government's policy of promoting local products, even if they may be slightly more expensive during reconstruction. He expressed confidence that this approach would help stimulate enterprise development, noting that sustainable economic growth cannot be achieved without strengthening industry and business.

"The main objective at present is to provide employment opportunities to the families of the injured and martyrs, while also managing and developing the skills of the youth," he said. "There is an urgent need for skills development and management to create an environment in which young people can envision their future within the country. We will work on this."

Minister Sinha further clarified that the foremost goal of the interim government is to hold elections in a free, fair, and peaceful manner, and to transfer the responsibility of governing to an elected administration. He also voiced optimism about seeing new faces in the upcoming assembly.

"Let's not expect dramatic changes in just six months," the minister added. "My focus will be on simplifying procedures, promoting the use of online technology, and ensuring that the contributions of Gen-Z are not wasted."

Prior to this appointment, Minister Sinha served as a Justice of the Supreme Court.
