The Department of Money Laundering Investigation has issued a seven-day notice directing Jaybir Deuba, son of former prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, to appear for questioning in connection with an ongoing money laundering investigation.

The Department of Money Laundering Investigation has summoned Jaybir Deuba, son of former prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, to appear before its office within seven days as part of an ongoing money laundering investigation.

According to a public notice issued by the department, officials on Monday pasted the summons at Deuba's residence in Budhanilkantha Municipality-2 after he could not be served in person. The notice was also published in Tuesday's edition of the government-owned Gorkhapatra.

The department has directed Deuba to appear at its office in Harihar Bhawan, Lalitpur, within seven days, excluding travel time, to record his statement. It has warned that legal action will follow if he fails to comply.

The notice states that Deuba has been summoned in connection with an investigation under the Money Laundering Prevention Act.

The department is also investigating former prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and former foreign minister Arzu Rana Deuba, who are currently reported to be abroad.
