Prime Minister Balendra Shah held a courtesy meeting with Asian Development Bank (ADB) President Masato Kanda on Tuesday, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to strengthening the six-decade development partnership between Nepal and the multilateral lender.
The meeting at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers centred on promoting good governance, economic reforms and infrastructure development, according to the Prime Minister's Press and Research Adviser Deepa Dahal.
The two sides also discussed expanding cooperation in hydropower, tourism, digitalisation and tourism road infrastructure.
Prime Minister Shah expressed confidence that Nepal would achieve a new phase of development through improved governance and transparency.
ADB President Kanda reiterated the bank's commitment to supporting Nepal's long-term economic development and prosperity, describing the ADB as a reliable development partner. He also praised Nepal's economic potential, reform agenda and young leadership, assuring continued support for the country's development priorities.
Kanda, who is on an official visit to Nepal, had earlier met Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle on Monday.
The meeting comes a day after Nepal and the ADB signed a USD 165 million (around Rs 25 billion) concessional loan agreement to support the country's development programmes.
