KATHMANDU, MARCH 12

Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal leaders today met Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and other senior leaders to discuss formation of the next government.

Upendra Yadav, co-chair of the JSP-N, told THT that NC leaders were positive about addressing Madhesis' concerns and protecting democracy. A JSP-N leader said NC leaders today proposed that the next government should be formed under NC leadership with JSP-N and CPN-MC as coalition partners.

Speaking to mediapersons at the meeting venue, Yadav said Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli should have resigned from his post after the Supreme Court ruled that he violated the constitution by deciding to dissolve the House of Representatives.

"We cannot join hands with regressive, anti-democracy, and anti-federal forces. We are of the view that only the proponents of democracy and federalism should join hands to resolve the country's political problems."

When asked how the next government would fulfil JSP-N's demands if it did not support the government, Yadav said the government should not expect their support as they had demanded the PM's resignation. He said the two-member task force formed by the party was meant to secure the release of party lawmaker Resham Chaudhary.
