KATHMANDU, JULY 13
The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has unveiled a budget of Rs 25.76 billion for the upcoming fiscal year 2082/83.
Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol presented the budget during the 17th session of the municipal assembly on Sunday.
Of the total budget, Rs 20.12 billion will be generated through the city's internal resources and bank deposits, while nearly Rs 5 billion is expected from federal and provincial governments through conditional and equalization grants, as well as revenue sharing.
The budget outlines plans to identify new taxpayers in order to enhance revenue collection in the upcoming fiscal year. Officials will visit transaction sites directly to facilitate coordination.
Additionally, the city has announced a subsidy scheme for new taxpayers who register within the first six months of the fiscal year.
KMC will also coordinate with the federal government to streamline house rental tax collection under a unified one-door system.
