KATHMANDU, JUNE 1

District administration authorities of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur are expected to ease Covid-19 restrictions in the valley from June 4.

In this phase of easing of the ongoing lockdown that was first imposed in the last week of April, grocery stores and department stores, that had been ordered to close shutters during the last extension order, will be allowed to operate.

The local authorities were widely criticised for their decision to shut grocery shops.

Likewise, vehicles carrying construction materials would also be allowed to operate during specific time-window in this phase.

Chief District Officers of the three districts are assembling for a meeting to take a decision in this regard, a Kathmandu DAO official informed.

The ongoing prohibitory period will expire on June 3, following which another extension incorporating the aforementioned changes is likely to be issued.
