KATHMANDU, JUNE 18

The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has opened the final nomination (wrap-up) online application for Class 11 and 12 scholarships for the academic session 2026/27, allowing eligible students to once again select their preferred subjects and educational institutions.

The Scholarship Examination Committee issued a notice on Thursday inviting candidates who were not included in the first and second nomination lists, or who wish to participate in the final round, to submit online applications by selecting their preferred subjects and schools.

According to Education Officer and committee coordinator Namraj Dhakal, KMC has allocated 4,857 scholarship seats across 145 institutional schools. Of these, 3,281 seats have already been filled, 3,051 through the first nomination list and 230 through the second, leaving 1,576 seats vacant for the final nomination process.

The online application portal opened at 10 am today and will remain accessible until 5 pm on June 22.

Students can reapply through the entrance portal using their symbol number, date of birth and password received via email or mobile phone. Applicants may choose a different subject from their earlier preference and select all or preferred institutions where seats remain vacant.

The final nomination will be based on the candidates' overall merit ranking and subject-wise seat availability.

Earlier, 3,735 students had been included in the first matching list following the scholarship selection examination held on June 1. Of them, 3,051 secured admissions within the stipulated deadline. They included 1,901 students in science, 1,111 in management, 34 in law and five in humanities.

Based on the remaining vacant seats, the committee published a second matching list recommending 486 students, of whom 230 eventually enrolled.

The scholarship examination's preliminary merit list was published on June 2 and the final list on June 5. During the correction and review period, 331 applicants sought re-evaluation, with answer sheets verified through both computerised and manual methods, according to KMC officials.
