KATHMANDU, MAY 30

The Health Department of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) padlocked two pharmacies on the premises of TU Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj, on Thursday.

The Panorama Pharmacy and Panchakanya Pharmacy, both operating within the TU Teaching Hospital, were padlocked following complaints, said Sajina Maharjan, the acting chief of the Department, adding that they were violating regulations.

The Department reported that proper temperature control for vaccines was not maintained, narcotic drugs were being sold without permission, and storage standards were breached at these pharmacies.

Maharjan further stated that an investigation is underway to determine what actions can be taken against the medicine shops.
