Koirala upbeat about budget

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress president Girija Prasad Koirala on Saturday expressed confidence that the government would bring the budget for new fiscal year through parliament after ironing out differences with the Unified CPN-Maoist.

“The government will bring the budget at any cost,” Koirala reiterated at a tea party organised by NC leader Sher Bahadur Deuba at his residence in Budhanilkantha.

The NC president also urged senior leader Deuba and Parliamentary Party

leader Ram Chandra Paudel to move ahead by keeping the party unity intact.

Paudel had defeated Deuba in the recently held PP elections.

Deuba organised the tea party to send a message of unity among the second generation leaders, following his defeat in the PP elections.

Responding to Koirala’s call, Deuba and Paudel jointly committed that they would work to further cement party unity.

“I am hopeful that the Unified CPN-Maoist would stop disrupting the House proceedings and facilitate the government in presenting annual budget for the upcoming fiscal year,” Paudel said. He added that the budget without government’s policy and programmes would be unacceptable to the party.

NC office bearers, central committee members and lawmakers of the party were present during the tea reception.
