The first of its kind in the country, Kathmandu University is starting classes in Master's of Technology in Artificial Intelligence and Bachelor's of Technology in Artificial Intelligence from this September.
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering under the School of Engineering will run academic programmes on AI (BTech and MTech), Dean at the Department Professor Manish Pokharel said.
Professor Pokharel said the AI classes are aimed at producing experts for local and international levels adding that KU was starting this academic programme for the first time in the country.
He said that 30 students would be enrolled in BTech and 10 in MTech and the classes would be residential for students. The students will have access to practical knowledge through project-based learning.
AI students can develop technology, implement data-based decision, analyse data and develop automated machine learning technology, it is said.
