Let the good times and funds roll
KATHMANDU: The security personnel of the Nepal Police (among others like Nepal Army and Nepal Armed Force) have done a commendable job after April 25 earthquake and its aftershocks — from rescuing people from rubble to relief work to putting smiles back through music and dance to rebuilding work across the quake affected districts. They won our hearts with their selfless work. Now, it is time to give something back to them.
And you can do that while enjoying some good music. Leading Nepali bands are uniting for an unprecedented event ‘Play for Nepal — Let The Good Times Roll 6’. It is a fundraising concert to “benefit families of national security personnel severely affected by the earthquake and its aftermath”. You can come to the concert and be a part of it at St Xavier’s School, Jawalakhel on June 20 on the occasion of World Music Day.
The concert is being organised by the band The Midnight Riders. The band’s guitarist Deep Shamsher Rana shares, “It is a fundraising event for the Nepal Police personnel. Houses of over 6,000 Nepal Police personnel were damaged. And many have not been able to visit their family, but they have rather been busy in earthquake relief duties.”
Rana is also a Deputy Superintendent with Nepal Police.
Let The Good Times Roll is an annual concert and it has gone bigger with this one. It will feature 15 bands — 1974 AD, Prism, Robin And The New Revolution, Cobweb, Tumblweed Inc, The Rusty Nails, Mental Radio, The Midnight Riders, Joint Family Internationale, Ashish Sinha, Hari Maharjan Project, Blues Co. Ashesh and Nekhvam, Deepak Bajracharya and the Rhythm along with Preeti Kaur.
Rana adds, “The whole idea of the event is to contribute to a worthy cause and to have fun. We have lived enough with fear. It is time to have fun.”
The concert gate opens at 10:00 am and will rock you till 9:00 pm with “non-stop” music. The tickets are priced Rs 500 each. A donation box will be kept at venue if you want to contribute more.
