Madhesi Front decides to hold talks with govt
KATHMANDU: Agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) has decided to sit for talks with the government to discuss the issues and differences over the Constitution.
A meeting of the alliance held in Gaur this morning made the decision to this effect, Sadhbhawana Party Chairman Rajendra Mahato told THT Online over phone.
Mahato said that the Front was positive towards holding talks with the government. He, however, said that the government should create conducive environment for the same.
He went on to say that the environment for talks will be possible if the government calls back mobilised Nepal Army personnel from Madhes, addresses the past agreements and declares the deceased as martyrs.
He further said that the alliance has decided to organise a civil disobedience movement from Wednesday to pile pressure on the government to address its demands at the earliest.
Mahato informed that the UDMF has also decided to form a human chain along the Postal Highway from Mechi to Mahakali at 1 pm on Thursday and urged the general public to take part in the programme.
The Front has also denounced ban on Indian channel arguing that it would not support the national unity.
Tarai Madhes Democratic Party Chairman Mahant Thakur, Federal Socialist Forum Nepal Chairman Upendra Yadav and Tarai Madhes Sadhbhawana Party Chairman Mahendra Yadav among other leaders were present in the meeting.
