Man held for bank forgery

KATHMANDU: Police on Friday nabbed a man for his alleged involvement in a bank forgery case.

A team deployed from the Metropolitan Police Crime Division nabbed Lung Bahadur Lama (40), a resident of Koshidekha VDC of Kavre district, from Dallu of Kathmandu today.

He is accused of cashing a cheque of Rs 300,000 by forging signature of Sukaram Ghalan, a permanent resident of Tistung VDC-7 of Makawanpur.

Ghalan was jailed in Saudi Arabia around 15 months ago while working there. He then had sent all his belongings and blank cheques to Lama, entrusting him to handover them to his nephew Balaram.

But, Lama forged the signature and withdrew cash from Ghalan's bank account instead of handing over the belongings to Balaram, police said.

The suspect has been sent to Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, for further investigations and actions.
