KATHMANDU: Police said they arrested a man who was on the run after murdering his wife from Gaushala of Kathmandu on Friday.

The suspect 27 year-old-husband Bijay Karki's wife Deepa Karki (25) was found murdered at their house in Sallaghari of Bhaktapur on Wednesday, July 13.

The victim had sustained multiple deep cuts on her head. According to police, Bijay had brutally hit his wife with sledge hammer before running away.

The couple did not have good relationship and used to fight over domestic issues, police added.

Karki faces murder charges. He has been currently remanded at the Jagati-based Metropolitan Police Circle for further investigation.

Police recovered a hammer from the incident site and a blood stained t-shirt from the suspect.
