KATHMANDU, JANUARY 20

Minister for Communications and Information Technology Jagadish Kharel has resigned from his post. He submitted his resignation to Prime Minister Sushila Karki today.

In his resignation letter, Minister Kharel stated that he chose to step down before entering the arena of party politics, taking into consideration the independent character of the current government.

"In view of the country's present needs, the long-term strengthening of the democratic system, and the expectations of the people, I have concluded that I must play a more active and responsible role through party politics. Therefore, I have decided to resign from my post in order to preserve the independent identity of the current government," the resignation letter reads.
