KATHMANDU, MAY 26

Minister for Foreign Affairs Shisir Khanal on Tuesday launched the 'MOFA Mitra' mobile application aimed at providing online consular services to Nepalis living abroad.

Launching the app developed by the Department of Consular Services, Minister Khanal said the platform would help make public services more convenient and citizen-friendly through the use of technology.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the application allows Nepali citizens abroad and their families to register consular-related grievances and concerns online, track the status of their requests, receive timely updates and communicate directly with Nepali missions for resolution of issues. The app is available on both Android and iOS platforms.

The Foreign Minister said the government would continue expanding technology-based services to improve public access.

Director General of the department Durapada Sapkota said the app would help protect the rights and interests of Nepalis living abroad and assist them during emergencies and difficult situations. She added that the application would also facilitate services related to rescue, compensation, insurance claims and management of dead bodies.

Information Technology Officer Nabin Kumar Jha said the app was specifically designed for Nepalis residing overseas and includes services such as inquiries, complaints, rescue coordination and corpse management.
